We visit our bathrooms first thing in the morning and it’s often the last place we go before tucking ourselves into bed.
Having just renovated my hideous and outdated bathroom, I can tell you that loving your bathroom makes a huge difference in how you feel about your home.
Even more so these days, when those of us who work from home don’t use any other bathroom. A simple bathroom update can make all the difference.
Oftentimes you can only do a couple of inexpensive things to make your space more loveable. These 9 tips can help you transform your bathroom on a budget!
1 New Shower Curtains
The simplest update you can make is to get a new shower curtain and curtain rings.
Hanging a new curtain takes no speciality knowledge. Much like painting a wall, a shower curtain takes up enough real estate in your bathroom that it can dramatically influence the look of your space.
As a bonus, if you don’t like your shower tile, it does wonders in covering it up!
The best part about shower curtains is that they don’t have to be expensive. If the rest of your bathroom is decorated in neutral colors, you can update your shower curtain each year as trends and color schemes change!
2 New Hardware
Replacing the hardware in your bathroom requires little more than a screwdriver and some patience. No serious plumbing skills are required… at least nothing you can’t learn on youtube university.
From door knobs and drawer pulls to faucets, selecting new hardware can completely update the look of your bathroom.
Brass and gold are currently making a comeback. This isn’t your grandma’s brass bathroom faucet! Warm toned gold plumbing fixtures add depth, dimension and luxury to any space. Gold looks great in several different style settings.
The recently popular shiny chrome creates a cool, modern and sleek feel. This year is all about making spaces warm and cozy.
A matte, satin or spun gold finish keeps water spots and fingerprints hidden. This is the bathroom update you deserve!
3 New Doors
For obvious reasons, doors are incredibly important in keeping bathrooms private. Eightdoors offers several models that are slightly thicker than your average door to reduce sound transfer.
1 Panel Shaker Primed in 1-¾ inch
The 1 panel shaker primed in 1-¾ inch is made of solid engineered wood. It’s simple square lines allow it to work with a variety of styles. Because it is a little thicker, it can create a much more private bathroom experience.
6 Panel Clear
Eightdoor’s 6 panel clear is a classic style made warmer and more rustic by leaving it in its natural form of solid, unfinished pine.
This timeless style is made of solid, engineered wood, making it perfect for adding a little extra acoustic insulation where you need it most.
2 Panel Shaker Primed 1-3/4-in
The 2 panel shaker is extra thick for extra privacy. This door is primed in three coats of high quality white paint. It can be left as is, or painted to match your bathroom’s decor!
4 Paint Your Floor
So many homes are equipped with outdated linoleum that looks dirty no matter how well you mop. Even in a small bathroom, a tile remodel can cost thousands of dollars.
Did you know you can paint your linoleum floor? Check out this amazing DIY tutorial.
5 A Change of Color
Painting the walls is the most obvious way to make your bathroom look new. Two-toned walls are really popular right now, and for good reason!
It feels super modern, and for those of us who have a hard time choosing between our two favorite colors, it means you don’t have to compromise! If Pantone can choose 2 colors of the year, so can you!
6 Don’t Stop at the Walls
Give your vanity a facelift by changing out it’s color! A new vanity costs hundreds of dollars, more if you need it to be installed. A quart of paint costs less than 40.
7 New Towels
Of course towels are a necessary part of any bathroom, but who’s to say they can’t be decorative as well?
As long as they are hanging there, they may as well look good. Buy a few new towels in your new color scheme to compliment your new look.
8 Update your Bath Mat
There’s no way to say it nicely. Old bath mats are gross. Get yourself a fresh bath mat that actually contributes to your decor. That is all.
9 Add Vertical Storage
Open shelves are all the rage in home decor right now. It puts your belongings on display, which helps you be more accountable to keep your clutter to a minimum. Storage baskets can be cute if you have the space for it.
Find some neutral storage solutions that will easily transition through the seasons and your occasional bathroom updates.
