BLOG/ Frosted Glass Doors: Benefits of Using Them in your Renovations

Frosted glass doors are definitely inline with the latest trends of bringing more natural light into your home, creating private but open spaces and modernizing classic trends.

Not only is it more pleasant to have fewer dark corners in a home, but it can help cut energy costs! If the natural light from one room is allowed to enter another, you are less likely to flip the light switch. Glass doors allow light to pass from room to room. Internal rooms that may have previously been darker become instantly more airy and light.

Frosted glass is superior to normal glass in that it filters natural light, protecting your furnishings from harmful UV rays which could damage them over time.

According to research, natural light can help prevent eye strain and, consequently, headaches. Your houseplants will definitely appreciate more access to natural light! As Theo Richardson, director of a studio famous for its LED light fixtures, said, “Light is a powerful thing. The right light lifts the mood, inspires productivity and motivates us.”

Glass doors are also simple to keep clean as they don’t corrode, ruse, or collect dust. Another remarkable thing about cleaning frosted glass is that it does not streak easily due to its textured surface. All that is needed to keep the glass clean is an occasional wipe with a microfibre cloth and some cleaner.

  1. 1 lite frosted glass doors..can they be purchased as a slab door to be used as a barn door? What sizes can be ordered? Do they go as big as 42 to 44 inches?

    1. Hello, Jon,

      Thanks for choosing EightDoors!

This door can be used as a barn door, however, maximum width is 36-in. We suggest you look at our 3, 4, and 5 Lite barn doors which are offered in 42-in. in width. Feel free to send us an email to doors@eightdoors.com if you need more information.

      Best regards,
      EightDoors Team

    1. Hello, Peggy,

      Thanks for choosing EightDoors!

A plastic razor blade scraper would allow you to remove the plastic without leaving any scratches in the glass. Feel free to send us an email to doors@eightdoors.com if you need help!😊

      Best regards,

  2. What is the difference between your 1 lite frosted panel Shaker door and the 1 lite frosted panel French door?

I’m looking to install matching frame frosted 1 lite panel doors in our large entry & hallway: (2) sets of 36” bifold doors, a left handed 30” hinged door and (3) 32” slab doors for a triple track sliding arraignment (not barn door hardware).

What style frame (Shaker or French) do all these types and sizes come in?

    1. Hello, Bryan,

      Thanks for choosing EightDoors!

These doors are different in that the first has a square profile where the glass panel meets the wood and is a primed door, requiring further finishing, while the latter has an ovolo profile and is a fully finished door. Feel free to send us an email to doors@eightdoors.com if you need more info!😊

      Best regards,
      EightDoors Team

  3. Is there a film on the frosted pantry door that has to be removed
    after or before install?

    1. Hello, Mary,

      Thanks for choosing EightDoors!

Yes, there should be a film on the glass on both sides. These doors come primed and would require you to apply a few paint coats; after the paint has dried completely you can remove the film by cutting through it with a utility knife and peeling it back. You may send us a message at doors@eightdoors.com if you need help with anything. 😊

      Kind regards,
      EightDoors Team
